Protect yourself from the sun. A lifetime of skin exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots, other skin problems as well as increase the risk of skin cancer. For complete sun care protection, use a broad spectrum sunscreen, SPF 30

Don’t Smoke. Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the blood vessels in the outermost layers of the skin. This means there is a decreased blood flow, and the skin appears paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are so important for skin health. Smoking damages the collagen and elastin , the fibres that give your skin its strength and elasticity. Also, facial expressions whilst smoking such as pursing the lips or squinting from smoke, can contribute to wrinkles. Also, smoking increases the risk of squamous cell carcinoma. Please ask about smoking cessation advice.

Treat your skin Gently. Avoid long, hot baths, strong soaps that can strip the natural oils from the skin. Blot your face and skin dry, so that some moisture is retained on the skin. When shaving, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving, to protect and lubricate your skin. Moisturise dry skin daily. Use a moisturiser that has SPF.

Eat a Healthy Diet- A healthy diet helps you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
